Dementia is the second leading cause of death in Australia, and the leading cause of death for women. Every three seconds, someone in the world develops dementia. Right now, over 433,000 Australians are living with dementia, and more than 1.7 million people are involved in their care.

Of these, around 33,000 Australians are living with younger onset dementia, diagnosed under the age of 65, often while raising families or still working. Dementia affects people of all ages and backgrounds, and two-thirds of those living with dementia remain in the community, not in residential care.

Dementia Australia is the national peak body supporting all Australians impacted by dementia. We provide life-changing services including counselling, education, and the National Dementia Helpline.
