Bonded labour is a form of modern slavery that uses deception, threats, or violence to coerce individuals or families to work for little to no pay, often under false debt bondage. There are an estimated 8 to 18 million people facing the daily terror of modern slavery in South Asia.
This devastating practice pervades brick kilns, rock quarries, spinning mills, farms, factories, and a myriad of other businesses. IJM has pioneered a model that puts strengthening the public justice system at the center of our work. We support local authorities to rescue victims and hold criminals accountable under the law. We empower survivor champions and help strengthen justice systems so they can protect communities long-term.
Help IJM and partners bring children and families trapped in modern slavery to safety and freedom. Rescue operations can free dozens or hundreds in a single day, and this gift provides everything our teams need to conduct one.
