Piglet
$ 37.00
Pigs are an extraordinary friend to a family trying to escape poverty. A pig will help fertilise crops, breed with other pigs, and provide an important source of income once piglets are sold at market. Oxfam provides poor families in Vietnam with the means to buy piglets, along with proper training on how to raise and care for them — a sure way to improve their wellbeing.
“Oxfam and its local partners established pig producer women’s groups in Lung Khau Nhin commune, Vietnam. It has proven to be one of our most successful programs in Vietnam, as we help local women learn agricultural techniques, protect their livestock from diseases and keep the area where their pigs live hygienic and clean. The most exciting part about the women’s groups is that members are so proactive in teaching others in their communities how to apply new knowledge and skills, leading to an improved position of women within their families and community.”
