Autism Advisory and Support Service (AASS) are a not-for-profit charity founded in 2007. They also host a range of programs including Social Skills Groups, Young Adult Social Groups, Music Therapy, and individual Therapies.

AASS supports parents and carers in our drop-in center with monthly support groups in English and Arabic. AASS also sells affordable sensory tools and resources in our on-site and online sensory resource store. The shop has developed into a social enterprise and we support and upskill young adults with autism in the retail industry so that they can transition to mainstream employment.

AASS has a partnership with various Universities and Tafes, including Western Sydney Uni Campbelltown School of Medicine where we show 3rd year Medical students what the realities of Autism are for the whole family, not just the person with the diagnosis.

* * NEW INITIATIVE FOR 2023 **

AASS is establishing a new opportunity shop and café called “Somewhere Nice”, incorporating a job readiness program and a tafe course, all under one roof. This initiative aims to create a supportive environment where individuals with disabilities can gain valuable work experience and skills while contributing to the local community.

The job readiness program is at the heart of this project. We are dedicated to providing meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, empowering them to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Through comprehensive training and ongoing support, we will ensure that our participants gain valuable skills, build their self-confidence, and achieve personal growth. The program will focus on various aspects of retail and hospitality, equipping participants with skills that are in high demand in our community. Presently, individuals with a moderate intellectual disability are not accommodated to access tertiary education. In our partnership with TAFE, individuals will engage with TAFE while working and receive a certificate at the completion of the course.
